Talon earrings and precision scowl Spiky Doc Martens and a false conclusion One of these days I’m gonna tear your throat out One of these days I’m gonna be reported But until that time, my activity Involves hostility tempered with acidity Don’t go until you understand my identity I forget myself when I listen to true crime Bottle of Riesling and a bubbling tub Vanilla candles and a podcast player Scrub away depression under the suds While I listen to the story of a co-ed slayer But don’t think I’m going to render you vicious Just because of the background to washing the dishes Don’t go until you know it’s not a sickness I forget myself when I listen to true crime There’s a world inside my head where villains are thwarted Where the victims of sadists don’t go unremembered It’s reductive to say a human is a monster Because to slay the monster you have to know the man I forget myself when I listen to true crime

Sin-Eater 06:35
Drink deep of this cup at the altar Lighten the burden and sorrow of others Be blessed by this heart-scalding poison Be blessed by this sharing of grief And here at your side, I will paint with the essence Of all the wraiths that shadow your soul Depressed and possessed by the holes in the photographs You will not be left alone You will not be left behind I will not abandon you This garden grows darker with each year Planting more candles for ghosts in the greenery Be blessed by the serpent around your heart Be blessed by the touch of the spectres And here at your side, I will breathe in the absence; The gravestone and lily and ash all entwined Consumed by the fires, reflecting the radiance You will not be left alone You will not be left behind I will not abandon you.

The ghost of a filament Burns brighter than a lighthouse On the shores of her memory’s dissonance The whitest twining lightning In the night-time, like a revenant Reminds her, for a moment, of a morning And the Chandelier Cafe Full of pancakes and oranges And the handsome, smiling waiter Looked her straight in the eyes and asked, “Is there anything more that I can do?” Like the faucet on a fountain Dries up without a wellspring, The images fall from her thirsting eyes So this modern Lady Greely, Questing for a cabaret, Sets off through an unrepentant blizzard And the Chandelier Cafe Full of red wine and spaghetti And the beautiful, blond waitress Will look her straight in the eyes and ask, “Is there anything more that I can do?” Scent of black, bitter coffee Curls like a smoky sentinel Beneath the glow of incandescent lights Tables gouged and pockmarked With the shades of forks and knives She feels a phantom presence at her side And the Chandelier Cafe Full of shadows and their whispers And the warm-hearted young lady Lays a hand upon her hand and asks, “Is there anything more that I can do?”

The carpet lines a grid The mirror notes the space between And limbs move as they're bid Inside a shell The mind and soul will swim unseen And inward dwell The heart's own cell I and the mask dance free and hidden Inhibitions gilt and laden Shadows broaden, feet are leaden I and the mask dance free and hidden Breathe and set the body The bones a-glimmer in their veil Slip from skin so tawdry And then dissolve From human form so meek and frail And be absolved And be resolved I and the mask dance free and hidden Inhibitions overridden Shadows lighten, hands are open I and the mask dance free and hidden The lips a black and winding line Unbound Unfound Soul and shell align I and the mask dance free and hidden

Petronilla 04:02
Gather herbs and place them on my pyre Rosemary and lilies all afire Clever cats and warty toads Sable ravens, wooly goats Add their august voices to the choir And I'll not wait, but you should listen Above the roaring flame I held my tongue until it was stolen And twisted to ash on my teeth Dance on down the trail to the crossroads And praise the spirits in their green abodes Slap nettles to your skin and bleed Into the grass and dust and weeds Sate your greed with nature's dark bestowal And I'll not wait, but you should listen Above the whistling breeze I wept for mercy and watched the horizon For sails that failed to appear Appeal and plead to the hearts of the soulless Confess to all their lies and rattle, restless With your chains and absent mistress Pulling taut and growing distant Breathe in until they feed you to the skies And I'll not wait, but you should listen Above the crackling coals With dew on the trees all a-glisten And sun shining bright on my bones
